Set Your Life Standards High Through Positive Thinking
Hello. Its Matt with Operation Awesome Life. I want to talk to you about something that is really important. I want to show you how to set your life standards high when it comes to your thinking.
“Don’t allow your mind to dwell upon negativity, negative thoughts, difficult challenges and things that come into your life that could make you go off of your path and away from your destiny.”
I think that we all need to raise our standards when it comes to our mindset and focusing on positivity. We ought to not allow or let our mind dwell upon anything that is negative. I am reading Tony Robins’ book called Awaken The Giant Within right now. It’s been taking me a while because I really like to read a few pages of it at a time since there is so much information packed in it.
One of the concepts that he throws out in it is a book that he read, I think it was called The 7 Day Mental Diet, I can’t really remember the author. The book he mentions talks about:
“…..taking a mental diet and not allowing any negative thoughts to enter into that zone where you start dwelling on it.”
He is not saying that you will never have a negative thought or a challenge but what he is saying rather is that if you have one don’t let it go for more than two minutes.
So if a challenge comes up in your life that is really difficult, recognize the problem, BUT..
“Don’t see it worse than it is. See it how it is; take that problem and spend two minutes on it deciding how you are going to approach it. From that point on don’t dwell on it any further and take a diet so to speak from that negativity and now dwell upon positive thoughts and how you can make that situation better.”
Achieve Your Goals Through 7 Easy Positive Thinking Strategies
Here are a few positive thinking strategies to help you conquer negative thoughts that have been a barrier to your success:
- Avoid Exaggerations & Absolutes – When your inner voice exaggerates, correct it; more so when it exaggerates on the negative: “I always oversleep” or “I’ll never win this game.”
- Stop Negative Thoughts Instantly – At times halting negative thinking is as easy as saying “STOP”.
- Find The Positive – Love yourself and also others, and rather than focusing on your negative qualities, heighten your assets and strengths.
- Avoid Bullying Yourself! – Don’t confine yourself to a level that you wouldn’t expect other people to meet. It’s great to want to do well, but expecting yourself to be perfect and then penalizing yourself when you fail is a brutal act.
- Encourage Yourself – Replace the criticism inside you with encouragement rather than focusing on the negative.
- Take Responsibility For Your Feelings – Don’t expect others to make you feel good about yourself whereas you don’t make them happy. Don’t blame others for your bad mood.
- Focus On The Possibilities – Keep away from any negative language such as “can’t”. Ask for help if you need it in order to accomplish things, but keep in mind that you don’t need approval from other people to acknowledge your achievements.
Can You Actually Solve A Problem By Not Allowing Negative Thinking Creep Into Your Mind?
Yes, you can! Basically spend your focus upon actually dwell upon the solution to the problem instead of the problem itself. This is one of the things that I’ve really worked on and its been a long time coming but I can honestly say now it is something that comes automatic most of the time, even though it took me a long time at first.
“Don’t allow even one negative thought to come in; don’t dwell upon it and how difficult that was at first to turn those things off because it seems like the more you start thinking about not wanting to think negative the more negativity actually creeps into your mind.”
That is such an important thing because whatever you focus on, your life is going to go on that direction.
