How To Get Out Of A Rut
How To Get Out Of A Rut
“Quickly get back motivation and begin gaining positive momentum!”
Can You Have Success And Still Be In A Rut?
Hello, its Matt with Operation Awesome Life. I’m not sure why, but for some reason I have been feeling like I am in a little bit of a rut and the weirdest thing about it is it has nothing to do with my actual performance.
Its just a little bit harder for me to get going; a little bit harder for me to get myself up, be motivated and excited to get going for the day.
Despite the fact that I’m having some good successes in business and in other areas of my life there is a little heaviness over me and I don’t know where it came from. Its kind of weird and it can even be a little bit embarrassing to talk about, no one wants to feel that way.
I’ve had some different business challenges as well as just some other life challenges too, but we all go through ups and downs and I feel like some of those times really affect you and other times you can just move on from them really quickly and not actually get too down about it.
Momentum Is The Key To Gaining Back Motivation
I want to give you some tips that I feel have helped me and hopefully they will help you get yourself out of the rut, gaining positive momentum and back in the swing of things!
One thing that can sometimes make me struggle is if I am not going to the gym and working out or if I’m not working out or going to the gym consistently enough and don’t have a good fitness goal.
“But as soon as I start getting back into the gym or back into eating cleaner and getting in better shape that always gives me a little boost and extra momentum.”
I think momentum is such an incredibly important thing that helps you really get through tough times. You don’t need a lot of momentum at the beginning.
I think most people, including me tend to focus on, “this is such a huge mountain that I have to get over. All these things are going wrong, somethings are going right, but there are a lot of things going wrong and I have to get through all those things”.
The negative thinking is what really paralyzes us and makes us have a tough time getting out of bed in the morning.
“If you can find one thing that gives you just a tiny bit of momentum, that can be enough to get you going, back and track, and carry you forward in other areas!”
This might be different for you than it is for me. It is crucial that you find one thing you can turn to in times of struggle to get you back in the game and gaining momentum.
How I Am Getting My Momentum Back!
I’ve just come off of a fairly lengthy time where I have literally worked just about every day straight for quite a while.
I think what I am starting to notice is I may have gotten a lot done during this period and even had some good results with it, however, I feel as though I am a little off balance and that’s kind of contributing to this feeling of being in a rut.
One of the things I’ve been doing in the last couple of weeks is going to the gym and getting back in the swing of things with my workouts.
I’m trying to get progressively better with my diet as I kind of fell off a little bit with it. It’s the holiday season, so I’m not going to be too hard on myself but I am progressively trying to get better with that as well.
The second thing I did was go to the golf course and hit some balls and practice on the green. The reason I did this is because I really enjoy it and it makes me get outside and get some fresh air, and it gives me a new perspective.
“When you get outside and do something you enjoy it makes you think differently and it also makes your brain use different path ways and starts to give you more creativity in your life.”
I’ve always been a very active person, involving myself with sports, workouts and athletics and so the golf course and the gym are very important to me. I would say they are one of my values; they are things that are very important to me.
When I don’t do or allow myself to do them for an extended amount of time, that’s when I get into those situations where I find myself getting into a rut.
Your Turn: Can You Get Back Your Momentum Again?
What is it that really gets you balanced and excited about life? It doesn’t always have to do with your business. It can be anything that will swing the tide in your favor and get the smallest amount of momentum.
What is it that gets you excited to be living? Are you a competitive person? Do you like to play sports? Are you someone that just likes to go take a walk on the beach? Are you someone that just wants to go take a drive in the mountain and have a picnic? What is it for you that is going to get you back to that place?
Karen actually asked me this same question today, she said,
“What is it for you that is going to get you right back in that place where you are feeling motivated and getting that positive momentum?”
The answer came to me so quickly when she said that. I said to myself, “I need to go to the golf course, I need to get outside and breath some fresh air, have some fun and do some things that are really fun to me”.
Try to stay as positive as you can and just focus on that one little thing that can help you get gain a little bit of momentum back, and if you gain just a little bit of momentum back, before you know it you are going to have tons of momentum and you are going to be more motivated than ever!
I hope this article helps you out in dealing with the difficult things you may be facing in your life and actually get out of a rut; inside business and outside of it as well.
