Vision Board Ideas, And How To Make A Vision Board
Vision Board Ideas, And How To Make A Vision Board
Hey, it’s Matt Hale with OperationAwesomeLife.com. Today I want to tell you about my vision board ideas, and how to make a vision board!
The first thing we need to address when we’re thinking about creating a vision board is the state of mind we’re in. When we create our vision board we want to make sure we are in a peak state of mind in the first place. In the next paragraph, I will tell you why I think this is so important.
First off, let’s talk about how a negative or lack mindset makes it difficult for you to create a compelling vision board. if you’re in a state of “lack” before you start creating your vision board, then chances are, you’re not really going to put what you want on the vision board. You’re most likely just going to put whatever you think might be possible to obtain. Even if it’s not what you really want!
That’s obviously not what we want at all. We want to be in the right state of mind. A state of mind that is full of abundance and full of energy and has an anything is possible outlook on life.
Cultivating A Positive Mindset
If you haven’t already seen the movie “The Secret,” I would highly recommend watching that movie. Some of the concepts may seem slightly elementary. But, they will get you in the right state of mind and they will tell you why vision boards work in the first place. It will also help you to start feeling some of those positive feelings before creating your vision board.
The next thing I would highly recommend doing is getting this book, “You Were Born Rich” by Bob Proctor. Karen and I have gotten so much use out of this book that the pages are literally falling out of it! See our copy of the book below.
As you can see it’s stained and pages are falling out. I don’t even know what some of that stuff is on there haha! We have used this book over and over again. I’m actually reading it again right now because I’m in the process of creating my new vision board to show you guys.
When creating your vision board you don’t want to get too concerned or worried if you think the goals are attainable. You want to act like you’re a kid again. Act as if you are able to go back to being a ten-year-old kid and your parents are asking you, “What do you want for your birthday?”
Tony Robbins talks about having child-like faith. He uses an example of asking a child about a swimming pool. He said, “If you’re a little kid and you’re asked what you want, you don’t say, ‘I want one swimming pool,’ you say, ‘I’ll take two swimming pools! Give me two!'”
As a kid, you have so much faith that you can have whatever you want in this world. You have the ability to dream so much better than adults. A lot of times as adults, we feel that we’re too smart. Often we feel that we already have figured out what we can obtain in this life. It’s important that we try to act as kids and have an unlimited mindset, not just make goals we think we can get.
Different Ways Of Making A Vision Board
Ok now let’s get into the vision board ideas and how to make a vision board! There are many different ways you can create a vision board. You could do a small little vision board, something that you could put on your desk at work. I prefer to create a large vision board, something I can hang on the wall or even the ceiling above my bed when. There’s also other ways. You can do a board online. You can pin different pictures that you see on Pinterest to your account so that you can go look at them that way. See example Pinterest images below.
Above are some images on Pinterest you could pin. If you go to Pinterest on your phone you can create a board and title it “Vision Board”. Once you have created a board you can start to pin different images that inspire you. The nice thing about the Pinterest method is that you have your vision board with you wherever you go. It is also easy to change your board if you decide you would like to change it.
There are a lot of different ways to do it, but I definitely prefer the poster board. With the poster board you don’t have to be disciplined to look at it. If you put the vision board up on your wall or on your ceiling above your bed then when you go to bed at night, and wake in the morning, that vision board is always there in front of you.
Creating Your Own Vision Board
If you haven’t already watched the above video, you will want to do that. In the video I show you guys the process I go through. You can see the different images that I have chosen, and why I have chosen them for my board.
When I began looking for images to put on my board I first went to Barnes and Nobles. I spent a good hour looking at different magazines but didn’t really have too much luck finding good images that inspired me. Many magazines have mostly advertisement style images in them, and this can make it hard to use them. Also, you are limited to what’s in the magazine itself.
It really is much easier to just jump online and easily search for what type of image you are looking for. This allows you to get an image that really resonates with you, something that really does excite you! Selecting the right images is incredibly important.
To attach your images to your board I suggest using a flat glue stick. I’ve used Elmer’s glue before and it works, but it kind of looks weird when it dries.
Other than that, it’s really quite simple. All you need to do is get yourself in the right mindset. Go to the store and get a poster board and glue. Then get online and start searching for things that really excite you and get you jacked up, and like you can accomplish anything that you want in this world.
Picking Images To Put On Your Vision Board
To see more examples of images that I used for my image board watch the video above. For instance, I picked a physique image because it really gets me pumped to create a better physique. I’d love to build my body up to look like the image I picked.
Above is my brand new completed vision board! I’m really excited about it and know it’s going to help me to begin achieving these things!
Another image I picked was of a Ferrari California. This is a goal that will really stretch me. This is a good thing because you don’t want to pick images of things you already know how to get.
Playing A Mental Game Of Tennis
One thing you might notice is when you start picking out images you’ll tend to question yourself. You will start asking yourself, “Do I really need a car like that? Is that too much? Do I need to get a Ferrari? Couldn’t I just be happy with getting a Mercedes or something like that? Why do I need to get a Ferrari?”
It’s so important that you don’t limit yourself on this vision board, and that you push yourself. Really, really dig down and try to come up with things that will push you and motivate you to get more out of your life.
If a Mercedes is it for you, if that will really, really, really get you excited, then great. Then that’s what you should put on there.
Just understand that you’re going to have a little bit of an emotional tennis match. In one second, you may feel like, “Oh, yeah, I can make this happen,” and the next second, you’re questioning yourself. You’re thinking, “What is wrong with me? Why do I need to have a Ferrari, a mansion on the water, or go to Egypt? Couldn’t a trip to New York be good enough?”. Just be aware that most likely an emotional tennis match will happen.
Final Vision Board Ideas And Tips
Another thing you might consider is not gluing all of your pictures right away. I’ve been working on my board over the course of a couple days, and since I haven’t rushed to finish it I’ve continued to add more inspiring images. Also it has given me a chance to continue to think about what I really want to create in my life.
